Welcome to our web site! I'd like to announce that our office has added two foreign language options to the
automated phone system that provides parents with Child Support
payment information. On Aug. 25, we added Spanish and the Haitian native language of Creole to the child support
Voice Response System.
The automated phone system is designed so that parents, by entering a case number, can monitor the arrival of
support checks and budget their family expenses appropriately. The Clerk's Office receives child support
checks from paying parents, records them, makes deposits, then issues checks to the intended recipients.
Once a payment arrives at the Clerk's Office, it generally takes 24 to 48 hours to process and mail. The
Clerk's neutral record keeping role is intended to limit disputes between former spouses over whether a check
was issued from one to the other.
The expanded Child Support phone service is a recognition that our community is diversifying in its population
and that people of all nationalities need to have these services. Funds for the expanded phone service came
from a state technology improvement trust fund.
Our Family Support Division handles an average of 2,100 phone calls and 200 walk in customers per week. The
office maintains case records that produce $6.5 million a month in child support checks. It is that
information that is stored and retrievable on the Clerk's Office automated phone system.
Residents can enter the automated child support phone system, with English, Spanish or Creole language
options, by dialing (561) 355-2937.
Whether the issue is child support or another area of the Clerk's operations, you should know that our
web site is intended to provide as much information in the most readable format. It is designed to allow
you to easily find the answer to most of the questions you have on any subject involving our office.
When we designed our web site over a year ago, we intended to bring into your
home or office information that previously would have meant a trip to the
Courthouse. In August, the number of hits for a single month
on our site reached an all-time high of 113,635. And we expect the hit number
to increase as we add more information important to you.
For example, in
coming months you should be able to find official
legal records here such as deeds, mortgages and liens, marriage licenses and
divorces, as well as judgements both in civil and criminal matters. But
before we make this information available over the
Internet, we want to ensure
CONFIDENTIALITY for those protected under the law
including, but not limited to, current and former law enforcement officers,
firefighters, judges, and prosecutors, as well as their spouses and children.
Addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, even schools attended, can
be concealed from viewing by web users.
Anyone who may qualify should click on our
CONFIDENTIALITY link, print out and complete the form provided,
and submit
it to our office.
Because we are very familiar with our processes, we may have overlooked
some item without which the information is not completely responsive to
your needs. And, it is possible that we have not caught an error before
going live with our page. If you find errors or omissions or inconsistencies
-- or just want to suggest an improvement, you may E-mail me directly by

The Clerk's office provides services to the public, the legal community,
the courts, the Palm Beach County government and the Florida State government.
Our duties are primarily ministerial: we follow the Florida statutes, county
ordinances and court orders. It is the most demanding and complex of all
of the County's Constitutional Offices. The Clerk has three primary responsibilities:

|
|
|
Clerk of the Courts
-
for both the Criminal and Civil Court Systems, and for the County and Circuit Courts for
the 15th Judicial District.(Please select
Court Services
for details on our functions in this area.)
|
|
|
|
Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, Chief Financial Officer,
Custodian of all County funds, and County Auditor.(Please select
Finance Department
for details on our functions in this area.)
|
|
|
|
County Recorder(Please select
Legal Record Services
for details on our functions in this area.)
|

Our primary function as Clerk of the Board of Commissioners is to act
as your accountant and official watchdog. As such, we have custody of the
County's financial system and we oversee the expenditure of tax dollars
to ensure they are spent in accordance with the law, policy and budget.
The Clerk collects and distributes Court fines and fees that enable
local and state agencies to serve you more effectively. In addition, our
office safely invests and earns revenues on more than $600 million of surplus
funds each year which supplements the County's annual budget.
Some who access the Clerk's web page may be experiencing unpleasant
circumstances in Court or with County government. Still, it is our goal
to make it as easy as possible for you to deal with our office, and to
provide you with the most efficient and user-friendly service. In fact,
if you have any questions about or problems with our web pages, please
